Philippe Coutinho has expressed his surprise at the quiet atmosphere he has found inside the Barcelona changing room, making it easy for him to settle in.

The Brazilian moved to the Nou Camp in January after sealing a £145million move from Liverpool.

He is still finding his feet in Spain, scoring his first goal in the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Valencia last week, but he has been made to feel welcome by an unassuming group inside the dressing room.

'The quality that there is in all the staff, it is amazing how you train, but what has surprised me most is the group that is in the locker room,' he told Mundo Deportivo. 'It is a quiet group, we received all new players very well.'

Boasting a host of big names, settling in with the Barcelona squad could have been a daunting prospect.

However, Coutinho insists he has been made to feel welcome in his new surroundings, the fact he is good friends with former Liverpool team-mate Luis Suarez making him feel at home.

One of the big draws of the Nou Camp was playing alongside the best stars in the world, and Coutinho insists he is privilieged to call Lionel Messi a team-mate.

'It is something very special,' he said of playing alongside the Argentine. 'Not everyone has the opportunity to play with the best player in the world. This makes me very happy.

'They received me very well. They (Messi and Suarez) are two great idols and being part of the team with them is a very good feeling, but not only with them, also with Andres (Iniesta) and with the rest.

'For me it is very special to be in this changing room, in the matches, for me it is a great experience and a great opportunity to be in this club.'
