Lizzie Kelly and Esprit De Somoza snatch surprise win in Chatteris Fen Juvenile Hurdle at Huntingdon

Esprit De Somoza is now 25-1 for the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham after pulling off a surprise five-length win in Friday's Chatteris Fen Juvenile Hurdle at Huntingdon.

The 20-1 mount of Lizzie Kelly, trained by her stepfather Nick, was beaten almost 25 lengths on his hurdling debut at Sandown last month by the useful Sussex Ranger.

But after market principals Style De Garde and Gumball had jostled for the lead, Kelly delivered her mount to lead at the last.

Kelly, a little surprised by the win, said: 'He can hurdle at that good two-mile pace and quicken off it, which is something rare as we don't have many precocious four-year-olds. They probably considered it a two-horse race — which it looked — and they've slightly forgotten me. The Triumph Hurdle is in the notebook now.'

Style De Garde's fourth place could not spoil a good day for trainer Nicky Henderson, who had a treble with Terrefort, The Vocalist and Turtle Wars. It was an early wedding gift for the Lambourn trainer, who marries partner Sophie in Scotland today.

Terrefort, on his first run since arriving from France, may now be a Festival hope too.
