Liverpool have revealed their third kit for the 2017/18 season – a luminous orange strip they say has been inspired by the signs on the Kop.

James Milner, Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho were the players chosen to model the strip, which will be worn for the first time in Hong Kong as part of the club's pre-season tour.

The strip, the colour of which Liverpool describe as 'bold citrus', will be seen in action for the first time in their Premier League Asia Trophy friendly game against Crystal Palace on July 19.

The shirt, shorts and socks of the outfield players are all orange with black trim – a colour scheme more readily associated with League Two club Barnet than the five-time champions of Europe.

However, Liverpool say the design is 'taking inspiration from the original wooden signage of the famous Kop stand.'

As with the home and away strips, the kit features the special edition club crest for the Reds' 125th anniversary, as well as the number 96 and pair of flames on the back of the neck, to commemorate the victims of the Hillsborough disaster.

The goalkeeper kit meanwhile – modelled by Simon Mignolet – is 'toxic green', as described officially by the club, with a diamond pattern on the leaves and a black band around the socks.

Lallana said: 'Scoring in front of the Kop is the best feeling in the world. It's a special place for the whole LFC family so it's brilliant to see a kit inspired by it.

'It definitely stands out, I like it and will be a nice reminder of the Kop every time we wear it.'

The third kit is available to buy in the club store now, priced at 50 for the replica version and 90 for the 'elite' shirt. The shorts will set you back 25 and the socks 12. The children's kit is 42 and the infant version 35.
