Liverpool can beat any of their potential opponents in the Champions League last 16 after battering Spartak Moscow, according to Michael Owen. 

Needing a win to reach the knockout stages, the Reds played magnificently in a 7-0 victory, meaning they have scored a remarkable 23 goals in their six group games.

Liverpool could face the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid or Juventus in the next round despite wining Group E, however Owen feels that his former club should fear no-one.

Speaking on BT Sport, Owen said: 'Russian teams have never traveled really great, but with that front four, to be that good you have to be so unselfish. They are a joy to watch.

'I can't wait for the knockout stages already. In that competition they are going to be so hard to beat.

'It doesn't matter what score someone might beat them away from home, at Anfield they can beat anybody by any score. I think in the knockout stages, lots of people will want to avoid Liverpool.'

Ferdinand said: 'It was just what the doctor ordered, all round Liverpool tonight were first class. They absolutely closed out their opponents and shut down any belief they had. A fantastic, professional performance.'

Lampard added: 'The front four were magic. They were just a joy to watch, like four mates playing. I don't care who the competition was, to play at that level of qualify was something special'.
